The DB-3 was a low-wing, all-metal aircraft with retractable landing gear in a tailwheel configuration. All landing gear had single wheels; the tailwheel was fixed, each main gear was mounted on twin oleos and retracted back into the engine nacelle, with the mainwheel left partly exposed when retracted.

The Ilyushin DB-3 ( Дальний бомбардировщик - Long-range Bomber) is a Soviet bomber designed by Sergey Ilyushin. It originated in a failed competitor to the Tupolev SB, which Ilyushin redesigned as a long-range bomber that entered production in 1936. The DB-3 was redesigned again in 1938 into the DB-3F, which would be renamed the Il-4 in 1942.

I am currently working on a five-part historical documentary series, and one of the tales is about a Soviet DB-3 bomber that was forced to make an emergency landing. Since we heavily rely on archival material, I wanted to create a realistic soundscape of what the pilots might've heard while bringing the plane down.
