Architecture The abbey church was a three-aisle, eight-bay basilica with a length of about 80 meters, built on a Latin cross plan with a central four-sided tower at the crossing, two arms of the transept and a spacious three-aisle, five-bay chancel, ended with a straight wall on the eastern side.

The Abbey was dissolved in 1536 and the monks dispersed. The nave of the abbey church was given to the parish and is still in use today. However little remains of the monastic buildings. Near the church is the Margam Stones Museum, which is open to the public but with limited hours. These stones suggest an early Celtic Monastic community at Margam.

Jul 2022. We came here as part of a wider series of visits exploring the Margam estate. The church itself, formed from the nave of the old abbey, was interesting to look around. I was personally puzzled by the idea of paying for the privilege of taking photographs, but it was a peaceful place with interesting architectural features.
